2016 Chevrolet Tahoe: Large and Now More Luxurious

For years the Chevrolet badge on a vehicle, with the exception of the Camaro and Corvette, meant that vehicle was the lowest priced version built.  This of course included the always large and powerful Tahoe which after its upgraded refresh last year is no longer always the lowest priced option but it also means this large SUV will give you even more luxury features than you might expect from a vehicle that carries forward the bowtie badge.  When you are looking for safety and luxury along with the capabilities that have made the Tahoe a highly sought after vehicle for years, this is certainly the best way to go.

Even though there was a mid-cycle refresh done just last year the Tahoe adds a few new features for us to enjoy.  The LS trim adds the Enhanced Driver Alert Package, new safety features, puts in power-adjustable pedals, forward collision alerts, lane keeping assistance, a safety alert seat and IntelliBeam automatic high beam headlights.  The LTZ adds a new head up display and an eight-inch configurable color display to make the connectivity even better and more visible than before.  These upgrades are sure to make a huge difference in this large and powerful beast of the blacktop.

From the interior of the Tahoe you can easily enjoy a spacious cabin that offers you plenty of room to move about.  Even at the base model the materials feel upscale and comfortable on every seat.  When it comes to controls, even though there are many to use, they are all placed in easy to find locations so you can keep your eyes on the road ahead and make sure your whole family can stay safe.  When you need to haul cargo this is the vehicle to do it in as you can have a flat floor with a folded down third row of seats.

From the outside the Tahoe is hard to miss.  This is a large and beastly vehicle that is also attractive and sophisticated in its appearance.  Yes, it is still a box in its basic shape, but this box comes so well-dressed you certainly won’t mind.  There is chrome on nearly every face of the vehicle to ensure you know Chevrolet has added the elements you want.  With a high ride height and large wheels there is no doubt the Tahoe is in charge in a group.  Toss in some LED accented lights and you have an SUV that offers luxury even on the outside of a large box shape.

As for price, you shouldn’t be too sticker shocked to find that the base price for the LS in 2WD comes in around $48,000 while the LT shows up just above the $53,000 mark.  Moving up to the LTZ which adds all the chrome and leather you could desire the price starts around $63,000.  At every trim level adding 4WD will cost an additional $3,000 and a top of the line completely loaded model will cost much more than these already stated prices.

What makes this SUV a powerful choice is the large 5.3-liter V8 engine that takes up the entire engine bay of this beast.  This engine gives you a full 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.  As this beauty can be attached to the six-speed automatic transmission you can get a reasonable fuel mileage for such a great SUV that comes in at 16 city/23 hwy mpg for the 2WD and 15 city/22 hwy mpg for the 4WD.  This big engine certainly allows for a generous towing capacity as well to make it easy for you to take plenty of gear to your favorite outdoor destination.

When it comes to features the Tahoe is full of them.  The standard offering is actually pretty generous giving you Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, and much more.  The LT upgrades the standard offering with forward collision alerts, lane departure warning, the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system and a Bose audio system.  Moving to the LTZ model you will gain rear cross traffic alerts, blind spot monitoring, Magnetic Ride Control and 20-inch wheels.  The eight passengers seating is limited to the LT and lower because the LTZ offers two captain’s chairs in the middle row.

As for options the Tahoe has many including a long forgotten front bench that can be ordered on the LS.  Other features include the navigation system, a rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-ray, a power sunroof and a theft protection package that offer a vehicle tilt sensor and an interior motion sensor to keep your Tahoe from being stolen.  There are several other great stand-alone features you can add to this awesome SUV to make sure you have the high class, high riding Chevrolet Tahoe you want to drive and show off to your friends and family.

When you have a vehicle as feature filled as the Tahoe it’s often difficult to choose only a couple that makes the grade of favorites.  For this big beauty those two would be the LTZ interior that is full of awesome luxury treatments that make this a vehicle that can compete with Cadillac, Lexus and Land Rover for the elegance and design.  The other would be the fold flat third row of seats which help to increase the cargo space and make it easy to see how this vehicle is the one to choose for hauling people and stuff.

When you drive the 2016 Tahoe you know you are in charge of the road.  This big SUV is the one to call on when you are stuck in a snowbank or for just driving to the store for some groceries.  When equipped with the 4WD there is almost no destination that can’t be reached by this big beauty.  The suspension ensures you can have a smooth and elegant ride while the stiffness helps to keep it steady and provide the response you need from the steering and from the vehicle itself.  It’s time to buy a new Tahoe and treat the family to some great outdoor destinations; come on in to your local Chevrolet dealership and get started.
