GMC is at the top of its game with the new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 as one of its most popular trucks. For 2022, GMC is selling two versions of the Sierra 1500–the regular Sierra 1500 and the Sierra 1500 Limited.
The first version of this truck has been updated significantly for the 2022 model year. Let’s take a look at some of the trim levels for the GMC Sierra 1500 trucks.
GMC Sierra 1500 Limited
The Sierra 1500 Limited will largely stay the same for the 2022 model year, which includes the engines, cab layouts, and trim levels. There is a slight engine change, however. The 4.3-liter V6 is deleted from the lineup. This means that there are a total of four engine choices for the Sierra Limited. These include two V8 engines, a turbodiesel, and one turbocharged four-cylinder. There are six trim levels for the Sierra 1500 Limited. These include the base trim, the SLE, the Elevation, the SLT, the AT4, and the Denali top trim. In terms of value, the SLE is usually your best bet. If you need to tow, then the SLT is a great choice. For off-road drivers, the AT4 is ideal. If you want the best of everything, then the Denali is the top luxury trim.
GMC Sierra 1500
The new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 includes two special trim levels not offered in the previous models. It’s not a full redesign, but it’s a pretty thorough refresh that has a lot to offer. The trim levels for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 include the Sierra Pro, the SLE, the Elevation, the SLT, the off-road AT4, the Denali, the AT4X, and the Denali Ultimate. Like the Sierra 1500 Limited, the regular Sierra 1500 has a choice of engines that includes a turbo four-cylinder, a turbodiesel six-cylinder, and two different V8 engines. The turbo-four has been upgraded with more power, which gives it a new tow rating of 9,600 pounds for RWD models and 9,300 pounds for 4WD models.
Brand New Trims
As previously mentioned, the GMC Sierra 1500 now comes with two brand-new trims to shake things up. The Denali Ultimate trim is an upgrade of the famously luxurious regular Denali trim. Distinguishing characteristics include chrome exterior accents, open-pore Paldao wood trim throughout the cabin, and full-grain leather upholstery. Stylized topographic maps of Mount Denali are marked on the dashboard and rear door panels for an eye-catching touch.
The second brand new trim is the AT4X off-road trim. Off-road trims are becoming increasingly popular and GM has moved to get in on the trend. The Sierra AT4X features a two-speed transfer case with a rock-crawling mode, plus front and rear electronic locking differentials. The standard engine on this trim is the most powerful V8 engine. Inside, the AT4X is still pretty posh with premium leather and leather accents throughout.
