Ford and Chevy Meet Again

It seems like every time we want to take a look at two of the most impressive and powerful models that we want to drive on the road are put against each other, Ford and Chevrolet are in the mix. This time, we’re taking a look at a pair of SUV that have taken a different approach to giving you the drive you want and the features that make the most sense for you when you ride. For this comparison, we have the Chevrolet Blazer RS AWD and the Ford Edge Titanium AWD to see which is better for you.

Starting with the Similarities of the Ford and Chevy

The first and most important similarity between these two SUVs is the fact that they both offer only two rows of seats and room for five people to have the drive need. Even though there’s enough room for a third row in both of these vehicles, they stick to the formula of balancing the cabin area with more room for legs and cargo rather than trying to squeeze an extra, and mostly useless, row of seats in the back of the vehicle for the drive desired.

The Blazer Brings a Bit of a Difference

Forget the Chevy Blazer you knew in the past and get ready to embrace a new two-row SUV that’s built on the same platform that’s good enough for the Cadillac XT5 and the GMC Acadia.

This alone should give you the idea that the Blazer is built to be luxurious and rugged but it also adds a bit of sport with a look that’s inspired by the Camaro to make sure you know this vehicle takes every part of being an SUV seriously by giving you the driving and comfort qualities you’re sure to admire.

Looking at the Ford Edge

The Ford Edge was last updated in 2015, which makes it a bit of an older model, but it’s one that certainly gives you the right drive on the roads and out on the trails. This SUV gives you a quiet cabin, an excellent seating layout, and a refined and comfortable feeling when you take it for the drive.

The Titanium trim has been the one from Ford that signifies the top model in many different forms to make sure you can have the drive you’re looking for when you head out on the road.

Powering the Drive in Each SUV

The Chevrolet Blazer is offered with an excellent 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 193 horsepower but next to the Edge base engine it is a bit weak. The Ford uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Blazer does offer you an optional 3.6-liter V6 engine that increased the power to 308 horsepower, which is much closer to what the Ford Edge has to offer. Of course, if you want the V6 in the Ford, you’ll have a twin-turbocharged model that makes 335 horsepower in the Edge ST, but this is where you would lose the luxury appointments of the Titanium trim level.

A Fantastic Drive

Both of these SUVs make use of a Sport setting to activate a more impressive driving setting to let you have more fun when you head out on the road or make your way to the trails since they both have AWD as well. The Edge gives you an eight-speed automatic transmission while the Blazer makes use of a nine-speed gear shift that’s automatic in its nature. In both cases, you’re going to have a drive that feels right when you take either of these SUVs out for a great drive.

When you do get these SUVs out on the road for the drive, the Chevy is firmer and more reassuring to drive through corners and roads that twist and turn. The Ford is softer but makes it more difficult for you to enjoy the drive. The comfort feeling of the Edge is increased with the 20-inch wheels that make it easier for you to have a quiet ride on the road. The choice of which one of these two will be right for you to drive is up to you; making it necessary for you to take a test drive in both of them.
