Getting More Power Before the Redesign

We’ve already seen a variety of different views of what the new Ram 1500 will be for the 2019 model year as this truck is ready to usher in a new generation. The changes that we’ll see to the most often purchased Ram pickup will likely make their way up the market to offer us significant changes for the future as the heavy-duty models eventually begin to resemble the new look and feel of the Ram 1500. Even though these trucks will likely take on the look and some of the new attributes of the smaller model, Ram has increased what matters to you for the 2018 version of the largest truck in the Ram lineup.

For many years, the Ram 1500 has been one of the most dominant models in the truck segment with the incredible power to haul whatever you need to wherever you need to go. This is an amazing truck that shows off with the amazing features you’re looking for, a large cabin for the entire crew, and the setup that certainly appears to mean business when you’re ready to take this truck out for a drive and put it to work at the jobsites you work on every day.

The Power Increase

The Ram team found a way to tune up the already amazing Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engine to allow it to give us more torque than it had in the past. In previous versions, this engine was able to offer you a strong 900 lb.-ft. of torque to give you the ability to haul up to 30,000 pounds behind the truck when you have a large travel trailer or the work trailer that needs to go with you to get things where you want to go.

What Ram was able to do with the higher boost limits that use a variable geometry turbocharger, was pull an additional 30 lb.-ft. of torque form this truck. The flow rates have been increased to make this a reality. In addition to the engine upgrades, Ram has added an upgraded hitch which allows the Ram 3500 to be able to handle the heaviest trailers in the industry. This means you can move from Class 4 and Class 5 towing to haul trailers that have even more weight to them. The new maximum trailer weight ratings are 31,210 pounds for the gooseneck and 20,000 pounds for the convention hitch.

Later this month, these new Ram 3500 pickup trucks will arrive for you to make use of and put a new model of this truck out on the road for the drive you’ll want to have for the pulling you’re looking for. This new setup allows Ram to maintain the highest level of torque and the most power for the hauling you need to do. If you’re considering the purchase of a large travel trailer to be able to enjoy some road trips in the future, the Ram 3500 can be the right choice for you to have the power needed to pull the trailer you choose.
