While we see the various EV models that are being added to the market to give us the zero-emissions models that can take us into the future, there are very few substitutes for a true hybrid model that can provide you with several miles of electric driving before engaging an efficient gasoline engine. The 2018 Chevrolet Volt is one of the hybrid models that can give you the ride you’re looking for and when it comes to the EV range, the Volt is the leader of the hybrids on the market with more than double the EV range of the Toyota Prius Prime.
In addition to being a model that gives you the range you’re looking for this is a car that offers the appealing build of a sedan that can be comfortable, gives you the ride you’re looking for and presents you with the technology that will give you the quality you’re after. This car is still one that can be reduced in price with the federal tax credit, which makes it more affordable than you might expect it to be when you see it on the car lot at your nearby Chevrolet dealer.
While the Chevrolet Volt was recently upgraded to begin its second generation, the new 2018 model is one that has added more for your driving enjoyment. The LT model now offers you the Driver Confidence Package to bring in blind zone alerts, rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear parking assist. This trim does lose the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob while the Premier model adds a standard heated steering wheel which is an optional item on the LT trim. Overall, these small changes give you more of what you’re looking for when you want something to drive and experience when you head out on the road.
Pop the Hood
When you take a look at what Volt has to offer in power you’re going to be amazed by what this car brings for the drive. The electric motor uses 18.4-kWh lithium-ion batteries pack that’ gives you 53 miles of range before you ever touch the gasoline. The gas engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and with these two together you’ll have 149 horsepower and 294 lb.-ft. of torque. After the electric range, you’ll have up to 420 miles of driving with the gasoline engine to make sure you can skip the gas station most of the time when you drive.
Starting at the base LT model of the Volt you’ll have the benefits of push-button starting, remote starting, keyless entry, automatic climate controls, the 4G LTE OnStar with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, cruise control, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel and a variety of safety features. This is an excellent base model which is the most chosen version of the Chevrolet Volt and the way that many of us want to have the drive.
You can choose more for the drive in the LT with the option of heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, leather seats, a Bose audio system, a Driver’s Confidence Package which adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alerts, and rear packing assists. The Premier trim of the Volt comes standard with the features that are optional on the LT trim. You can add the Driver Confidence II Package which brings in automatic high beams, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise controls and forward collision warnings. Choose to add the navigation system to the Volt and you have to shop at the Premier level because that’s the only trim that offers it.
If you’ve made the decision that you should drive a hybrid model on the road, you need to choose the one that’s going to provide you with the most of what you’re looking for. The Chevrolet Volt gives you the range you want, looks great as a stylish small sedan, and brings you the technology you want to have in the cabin. Take a look at this car when you see your nearby Chevrolet dealership and make this the right choice for you to drive every day.
