2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4ex Plugin-Hybrid Debut

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4ex (pronounced “four-by-e”) is the newest edition to your local Jeep dealer’s lineup. This new plug-in hybrid is part of the Jeep Grand Cherokee released for the 2022 model year. This eco-friendly SUV follows the big tracks of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe that hit the road in 2021.

While your local Jeep dealer doesn’t have any Grand Cherokee 4ex models ready to take home today, you should be able to reserve one to take home soon. Until then, here’s everything we know about the debut of this highly-anticipated Jeep.

A Sportier New Look

If you compare the new Grand Cherokee to older models, you’ll see a sportier SUV. It has a shorter length, fresh angles, and a unique rear-glass design. The 4xe doesn’t get anything that really screams that it’s an eco-friendly vehicle. There is a small blue “e” badge on the door that covers the charging port and a simple 4xe logo on the tailgate.

Inside, the new Cherokee looks very similar to past models. It does now come with a 10.25-inch front passenger screen built into the dashboard. This makes it so anyone riding shotgun can be a genuine navigator. This screen offers navigation, camera views, entertainment, and more.

Higher-level trims can be equipped with a fresh high-def rear-seat entertainment system that features built-in FireTV.

What’s Under The Hood of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4ex?

One of the most common questions your Jeep dealer gets is what kind of power this new 4xe offers. This new plug-in hybrid comes equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that works with two electric motors. This powertrain also includes an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a 400-volt, 17 kWh battery pack.

Altogether, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Jeep expects drivers to get a full 25 miles of pure electric driving before the hybrid engine kicks in. That means you should enjoy up to 440 miles on a full tank of gas and an estimated 57-miles per gallon fuel efficiency.

When Will It Be Available?

Production of the new 4xe Jeep started in October of 2021. We’re expected to be able to drive these bad boys as early as March 2022. It should be available in the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trims.

Expect to pay $44,105 for the entry-level model, but some reports suggest it could retail for around $55,000. Until then, stop by your local Jeep dealer to learn how to reserve the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and be the first person on your street to bring one home.
