The Toyota Tundra will be All New for 2022

The next generation of the Toyota Tundra is on the way to dealerships. This new model will be part of the 2022 half-ton truck lineup.

As Toyota continues to try and gain part of this market from the Big Three American names, this new model is made to be more attractive, offer a better interior, and give you upgraded electronics to help you decide the Tundra is the right truck for you.

We’re Being Teased and We Love It

While wewait for the Tundra to make its appearance at dealerships, we can talk about some of the aspects this truck brings that we know are upgrades to make your drive better when you’re behind the wheel.

A Larger Screen for Your Infotainment

One of the images released by Toyota shows us a Tundra with an eight-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay connectivity. This larger screen is necessary with competitors offering screens that measure 12.0-inches in size. We’ve also seen a JBL sound system for the music you love, which can make the ride more fun for you.

A Few Electronic Features for Your Drive

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will be available with wireless device charging. We don’t know if this truck will have wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto or not, but it could be. Other cool electronic features you’ll find, especially in the TRD Pro model, include off-road drive modes, hill-descent control, and crawl control. The crawl control acts like a low-speed cruise control feature to make your off-road driving much easier.

See More of the World Around You

Another upgrade we’ve seen for the Tundra is one that gives you better views around the truck. Everyone can enjoy the view out of the roof with the panoramic sunroof and admire the fact that the rear window can roll down like a normal window. This helps you enjoy the views around you during your time on the trails and when you have to stick to driving between the paved lines.

More Power Out of a Smaller Engine

Toyota has seen the writing on the wall with other trucks using smaller engines and gaining more power. The new Tundra is expected to be powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that will make 409 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. The outgoing 5.7-liter V8 was capable of 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. This new engine will be more efficient and more powerful, which is an impressive combination. There is a rumor that we might see an electric Toyota pickup, but we don’t know if it will be the Tundra or the Tacoma.

An Impressive Front Upgrade

The new Tundra will wear a huge front grille, especially in the TRD Pro model. This new grill is integrated with three LED light bars which might only be reserved for this off-road trim. We also know the newTundra is going to be wider than the outgoing model, which could translate into more interior cabin room for you when you drive. We’ll know more as this truck becomes a reality and arrives at dealerships to let us see which trims have the specialized grille treatment.

New Wheels for the TRD Pro Model

One of the most popular versions of the Toyota Tundra is the TRD Pro version. This model of the Tundra will arrive for 2022 with a new set of shoes. The wheels we will see are new TRD Pro wheels that are expected to wear 285/65 Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. These wheels and tires will fit under the new textured fender flares to give you the ride you’re looking for.

The Bed Could Wear the Trim Name

This might only be true if you have the TRD Pro model, but we won’t know for sure until this new truck officially arrives. We’ve seen leaked photos of a tailgate with the TRD Pro logo spread across the entire thing. Previous versions had this script only stamped into the rear quarter paneland not o the bed at all. Will we see the same selection of bed sizes? The outgoing model offered us three to choose from.

Its Time for this Change in the Toyota Tundra

The current generation of the Tundra came to the market in 2007. Most of the trucks that compete with this truck have been upgraded more than once with new generations and mid-cycle upgrades. We may see the new model change a lot more than what we’ve covered here, but we’ll have to wait until the 2022 Toyota Tundra arrives to know for sure.
