While the direct competition offers us off-road versions of the heavy-duty trucks, the Ford Super Duty models appear to have fallen behind.
Thankfully, that won’t be the view we have of this brand for the 2020 model year. We’ve been waiting for an off-road package of equipment to make use on the trails in a Super Duty model from Ford and now it’s here. This new package is called the Tremor package and it will give you everything you want to head out on the trails to have some fun.
The Ford Tremor Off-Road Package
This new package of items will be offered on the Ford F250 Super Duty to start with and it means we can have a truck that has 35-inch tires and Trail Control to give you the beginning of a fantastic equipment list. The wheels will wear Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires that are mounted on 18-inch matte-finished black wheels. You’ll also see a two-inch front end lift and shorter air dam to give you the 10.8 inches of ground clearance that you want. This is claimed to be what you need to handle water that’s up to 33-inches deep that you need to push through.
More Under the Truck
The Tremor Off-Road package offered in the F250 Super Duty gives you the best approach and departure angles of any truck in this class. You’ll also see more hardware under the truck including off-road running boards that tuck up next to the body to help control the damage, extended-axle vent tubes to handle the wet stuff, and Trail Control, which is a type of off-road cruise control that’s already being used in the Raptor andRanger models from Ford to give you the control you want on the trails.
You’ll also see custom 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers that offer you the volume of oil needed to keep the internal temperatures low. These items are tuned to soften the ride and give you the control you need when more severe impacts are minimally felt in the cabin. The Tremor package also features a locking rear differential with an electronic shift-on-the-fly function and a limited-slip front differential, both from Dana.
