The Chicago Auto Show Results

The recent Chicago Auto Show is in the books and there was a lot of interesting vehicles offered at this show to give us plenty to discuss. As with any automotive show, we saw vehicles that make us think, made us smile, and made us wonder what the brand was thinking. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the vehicles that we consider to be winners of the show and some that made their way to the bottom of the list.

Winners

2020 Subaru Legacy

This new Subaru is built on the new global architecture of the brand and it’s offered with a stiffer frame and more safety features. We expect this car to be faster than the previous model that we admired in the past. There are two engines that will be offered to give you the drive you’re looking for that are set up in the boxy style we love from this brand.

2020 Ford Super Duty

This truck has been refreshed to give us a beefier look and a bigger and stronger engine to offer more of the power we want from the truck. If you’ve got a job to get done, the Ford Super Duty will be the truck that you want to turn to so that you can get everything done that you need.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

A package of features makes the Jetta GLI the right car to drive when you want something fun on the road. There’s a ton of style and performance features that come from other areas of Volkswagen to come together and give you the package that you’re looking for when you’re ready to head out on the road.

Ram Multifunction Tailgate

While this isn’t an entirely new truck it is a new feature offered on the Ram trucks to give you the access you need to the items in the bed. This tailgate opens with barn door hinges to make it easy to get what you want. You can also open it the same as a standard tailgate, making this an amazing feature for this list.

Undecided

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD

Here’s a truck with a stronger frame, roomier interior, and more power to give you what you need when it’s time to get more work done. The Chevrolet Silverado HD comes into the undecided category because of the lack of improvements to the styling inside and out, making this a truck that can get the work done but hasn’t quite been upgraded the right way.

Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition

This celebration model of the Miata has a gorgeous orange paint job, a set of upgraded Recaro seats, and exclusive brakes to give you a few items to get excited about. Only 3000 models of this car will be built and it does come in at a much higher price than the standard Miata, making it a car you really want if you choose to buy it.

Losers

2020 Nissan Rogue Sport

Very little has been changed about the most popular SUV in the Nissan family and it probably could have been left out of this show without being missed. Even so, this SUV has a new hood, upgraded bumpers and taillights, 19-inch wheels and a couple new colors, but that’s it.

2019 Cadillac XT5 Sport Package

Another model that could have been left at home and not brought to the show is this Cadillac. The Sport Package is mostly an appearance package of items that you can add and it could have easily been offered at dealerships without the cost of taking up space at this auto show.

2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro

While the package of items added to the Sequoia makes it more capable of going out on the trails, which we love, this is another model that wasn’t enough of an upgrade for us to find it to be a winner. This package could have been left up to the dealerships just like the other losers on the list.

If you like the look of this model and want to bring it home as your new ride, consider trading-in/trading-up your current roadster for this sleek new Toyota!
