A New Ride

Wait a minute, the Golf R isn’t new. How can this hot hatch from Volkswagen be the subject of anything written that says it’s a new ride?

This hot hatch that has taken us by storm is new in one way, and that way can make the drive feel different from what we’ve been used to in the past and offer us something that we haven’t had. Previously, only those who could drive a manual transmission model could purchase the Volkswagen Golf R but now, that has changed with the addition of the new transmission offered.

As the first of the VW models offered in North America that will bring in an optional seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission, the Golf R is a fast and active vehicle to drive that you can enjoy even if you’re not able to row your own gears. This amazing car has been one that has straddled the line between a premium hatchback and one that fits every driver, now it’s a model that gives you what you’re looking for and makes it possible for you to drive and enjoy without the manual transmission, which could have been the only reason you didn’t purchase one in the past.

What makes the Volkswagen Golf R special?

Not only does this little car bring in the premium qualities of a gorgeous bumper, headlights, a new shape to the rear hatch, and a large infotainment system, this is a car that packs the power you want. You’ll have the power of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 292 horsepower to all four wheels using the 4Motion system to make sure you can have the control and the drive you’re looking for. This is a car you can easily take to the track and burn off some fast laps that are sure to capture the attention of your family and friends.

With this new transmission, you have one additional gear for the ride and with these gears being closer together it’s possible for you to experience an acceleration that feels urgent and ready to attack the road. We don’t have the official time for the car to reach sixty mph but it seems like this version might be a little quicker than the one that uses the six-speed manual transmission for the ride you’re looking for when it’s time to get out on the road and into traffic.

In addition to offering you more gears, this new version of the Golf R does something else you need to understand. It’s become redundant in many ways to tell you, but once again I have to say, an automatic transmission can shift faster and smoother when you drive than any manual. If you want to be able to row your own gears, more power to you, but if you instead want to have the systems included in the car work together to give you the fastest and smoothest ride possible, the automatic transmission will be the right choice for you.
