The invitations went out many months ago, but with the Los Angeles Auto Show only a month away it’s nice to know who has sent in their RSVP and who won’t be attending. While we already know this show will be huge next month with over fifty new debuts that will make their first appearance at this show, there will certainly be a huge amount of interest in at least one car at the Honda booth. This booth is the home of the new Honda Civic Si which will show up and give us our first look at the car that will be a performance maven for us to love and adore.
Oddly enough we haven’t heard yet whether this car will be a hatchback, coupe or sedan and even though all indications are that this will be a hatchback like the Type R, Honda has given the Si badge to a sedan and a coupe in the past to give us the additional performance we love to enjoy. Strangely enough, we haven’t had any early photos to let us know exactly what this car will look like, but you can bet there will be plenty of people working to get hold of pictures to be the first to show us the new Si.
Even though we won’t know the build of the car until the show, we do know about the power train that will be under the hood. You can expect to see a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that comes in the 1.5-liter form that is already found in the standard Civic, but one that’s tuned up to be even more powerful than this one. This engine isn’t only used in the Civic but also in the CR-V and in the Civic it has 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque while in the CR-V it provides us with 190 horsepower and 179 lb.-ft. of torque.
With this information you can see that this engine is tunable and could hopefully show up under the Si with at least 220 horsepower to rocket this new Civic down the road. This added power may even call for new transmissions and better overall equipment in the car to get the power to the wheels where it can do the most good. If the Si does come in with this much power you can bet there will be a line out the door of folks ready to put their money down on this new performance Civic model.
Now that we know Honda submitted their RSVP for the L.A. Auto Show for next month we can simply sit back and wait for this show to arrive and the fun of driving a new Civic Si to be presented to us.
