2017 Lincoln Navigator: Massive Luxury for You

Lincoln is a name that has stood the test of time when it comes to American luxury on the automotive market. As a company that marches to the beat of their own drum, Lincoln has chosen to define luxury as the softer side of comfort and elegance, which is just fine with us. The Lincoln Navigator epitomizes the luxury feel with plenty of interior space and a soft ride, but is also a capable large SUV with a 9,000 pound towing capacity and room to fit a ton of gear behind the third row of seats.

The Navigator has come in two wheel bases to give you the base model and the Navigator L which is a longer and more spacious version of the beat. This is a highly recognized vehicle on any road and one that gives you the comfort of an independent rear suspension while coming in at a price that’s much less than its rival, the Cadillac Escalade. For 2017 the Navigator adds a new color, Palladium White Gold but since the Sync 3 system was added last year and a new Navigator is in the works, this was the only notable addition to the Navigator lineup.

Two of the main reasons to love the Navigator over the Escalade are the engine and the price. Starting with the engine this SUV only comes with one, regardless of the model chosen, which is an amazing engine and perfect for this large SUV. This engine is a 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6 that gives you a full 380 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is more powerful than the outgoing V8 was and much more efficient. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode this powertrain will give you 15 city/21 hwy mpg in RWD and 15 city/20 hwy mpg in 4WD.

The price for the Navigator is thousands less than its direct competitor, giving you a value in this market. The base price for the Navigator Select is $64,400 with the Navigator L starting at $66,800. Adding the 4WD to the mix will cost you an additional $3,500 on either vehicle. A fully loaded Navigator L will reach up to nearly the $80,000 price range, but even at this price you still have a vehicle that’s much less expensive than the domestic or foreign competition to give you a great vehicle at a price you can more easily afford.

On a vehicle of this size you expect to have a ton of great features to enjoy and this is one that truly delivers. Even the base model will give you items such as the Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, voice command capabilities, a 14-speaker THX II certified audio system, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, a power tailgate, adjustable pedals, push button starting, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, a rearview camera, front parking sensors and puddle lights to show you what’s on the ground by your door.

When you buy a vehicle of this size and price you’re going to want to add some optional features to the mix. These features include the longer wheelbase, 4WD, premium leather upholstery, Ziricote wood accents, 22-inch wheels, power running boards, a moonroof, Lincoln Drive Control, and much more. This list of great features gives you a Navigator that will be an even more luxurious drive than before.

Even though the Navigator has been around a long time, with this turbocharged engine and the Sync 3 system you see an SUV that’s modern and full of great technology. The ride in this big beast is comfortable and encouraging for you. There are three driver select settings for you to choose from, Comfort, Normal and sport to ensure you have the ride you want. The suspension and steering work extremely well together to make sure you can have an SUV that will handle the road with ease while keeping you safely inside.

You expect a high quality ride from the Lincoln Navigator and that’s what you get. You might not expect the reasonable price and the better fuel mileage than the competition. If you’re looking for a great full size luxury SUV, look no further than the 2017 Lincoln Navigator.
