Sequoia Arrives at the Chicago Auto Show

When Toyota opened the booth at the Chicago Auto show, there was a large and imposing SUV present that appears to have qualities we’ve not seen in this vehicle in the past. This big brute is the new Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro model that’s ready to be the SUV that you take for a drive and allow six other people to ride with you on the trails. The Sequoia has always been a rugged and tough-looking SUV, which makes us wonder why the Toyota team waited until now to put the TRD Pro equipment into this vehicle.

A Package of the Right Items in this Toyota

The off-road credentials of the 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro start with a standard set of Fox shock absorbers. These items are 2.5 inches up front and two inches in size in the rear. They are built to provide the softness you want during normal driving but the stiffness of them increases as the range of travel increases. This means they can feel when you’re dealing with deeper and more consistent issues on the trails to give you the strength you need while being soft and supple when driving on the consistent pavement you see every day.

You’ll also enjoy a multi-mode 4WD system that’s complete with a two-speed transfer case and a lockable Torsen limited-slip center differential to move the torque between the front and rear axles. There’s also a TRD front skid plate to protect the underside, a set of cast aluminum running boards, and a roof rack that gives you the ability to take more gear with you when you take this SUV out on the trails for a weekend of fun and activity at your favorite camping area.

The Right Power for this Toyota

When you look under the hood at this large SUV, you’re going to see a strong 5.7-liter V8 engine that sings through the impressive TRD cat-back exhaust system. This engine is able to give you 381 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. This power is routed through the six-speed automatic transmission that’s enjoyed in the Sequoia that you want to drive. If you need to tow a trailer or boat with you when you drive the TRD Pro model, you’ll have 7,100 pounds of towing capacity for the ability to get items where you want them to go.

More Improvements for the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro

This new and impressive large off-road SUV is offered in four colors which are white, black, gray, and Army Green. You’re also going to see the TOYOTA name across the grill and enjoy the ride on a set of 18-inch wheels. The headlights and fog lights use LED bulbs to give you added brightness for the ride you love in this SUV. Inside, you’ll see seats that have upgraded black leather upholstery, red stitching, TRD all-weather floor mats and more. The TRD Pro gives you keyless entry, push-button starting, an eight-way power driver’s seat, tri-zone climate controls, a premium audio system, and a high-resolution touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. These are similar to the features in the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra TRD models.
