2019 Chevrolet Silverado, New Turbocharged Engine

As the new Silverado comes closer to being offered on the market as the truck you want to drive, you’ll see new choices and new technology being used to make this truck smarter, more efficient, and more powerful. One way this truck has improved is with the offering of a new engine that doesn’t sound like its big enough to handle the load, but it certainly is strong enough to get the job done and offer the quality we’re looking for when it’s time to get out on the roads and take a drive.
For the 2019 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will be offered with a brand new 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will expand the range of available engines offered for this truck. This new engine will build on the number of choices offered to make it possible for customers to find the Silverado that’s right for them to drive. This new engine will be offered as the standard item for the LT and RST models of the Silverado to give you a great place to start and be able to enjoy the ride in the Silverado you drive every day.

Getting Specific with this new Silverado Engine

The power you’ll receive when you choose the 2.7-liter turbo engine for the Silverado comes to 310 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft. of torque. This is 22 percent more torque than the engine this new base model replaces and it can deliver the peak torque from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm to make it easy to have a low rpm number and plenty of power for the work you need to get done. This engine is powerful enough at the right time that you might forget it’s a four-cylinder model when you drive.

Not only is this new engine able to offer you more power than the one it replaces while also doing so at a low rpm range, but this engine also makes the Silverado lighter and quicker than in the past. With the 2.7-liter model under the hood the Silverado can reach highway speeds in less than seven seconds and it weighs in at 380 less than the current versions that have the 4.3-liter V6 engine under the hood. When compared with competitive models, this truck is expected to deliver excellent payload and towing numbers to outperform the other trucks on the market with their V6 engines under the hood.

While you might get laughed at by your buddies the first time you show them the small engine under the hood of this big truck, when you take the Silverado out to get things done and the 2.7-liter engine is outperforming others at the jobsite, your friends will stop laughing and be amazed. This new engine is excellent for this truck and allows it to be the right way to have the power and the qualities you need when you head out on the road to have a great drive and put this truck to work as efficiently as possible.
