2017 Nissan Maxima: Flagship in a Sports Sedan

Often we think of a flagship model from a brand as a close to luxury vehicle or the absolute height of luxury. The Nissan Maxima is neither of those things. This is a car that offers you a four door setup that works well for the whole family but comes as a sports sedan rather than a vehicle that makes a mark on luxury. This car is quick and nimble while offering you more horsepower than you might expect from a car that plays in the midsized sedan class. The Maxima isn’t luxury on the road, instead it’s fun to drive and a car that will get your heart racing on any road.

While the 2016 model marked a new generation this 2017 version continues to enjoy the success and design offered by the new generation. For this year the additions to this car include Apple CarPlay and two new accessory packages called Medallion and Dynamic to give you more of what you want in this great car.

On the inside this car offers you diamond patterned accent trim for the seats and door panels one the higher trim levels. On every trim you will find an interior full of great features that offer you a surrounding atmosphere of quality and precision crafting. Looking to the exterior you see the now familiar flying V look of the front of the car that leads you on a tour of a car that is both sleek and stylish with gorgeous lines and angles all around. Whether you’re drawn in by the narrow eye headlights, the floating roof or the sports car good looks of this four door beauty the Maxima is sure to give you something to admire and enjoy every time you step in for a drive.

Looking to the standard features of this car you will find LED headlights and taillights, the NissanConnect infotainment system which uses the eight-inch touchscreen for navigation and audio controls. This car is connected to your need with Google search, Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports and Apple CarPlay. Your comfort is important in the Maxima which gives you an eight way power driver’s seat, cruise control, push button starting, keyless entry and a rearview camera as part of the standard offerings for this car. Between the gauges you will find a seven-inch programmable screen to give you the readouts you want from this car.

If you happen to choose to climb the trim levels you can do so with the packages offered. These trims will allow you to enjoy leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated outside mirrors, LED turn signals, front and rear parking sensors, a dual panel panoramic moonroof, an upgraded audio system, blind spot warnings, rear cross traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, forward emergency braking, predictive forward collision warning and much more. Choosing the SR, which is the sporty trim, you could have larger wheels and tires but lose the moonroof. The Platinum model has moving object detection along with a driver attention alert system and a surround view camera.

No matter the trim level chosen for the Nissan Maxima you only have one engine under the hood. This engine is a 3.5-liter V6 model that makes 300 horsepower and 261 lb.-ft. of torque. While most of the time a CVT is meant for the bargain bin in the automotive world the one used on the Maxima is exceptional and gives you the smooth and quiet power you want. This powertrain is able to offer you fuel mileage of 21 city/30 hwy mpg to put some fuel efficiency with the power of this amazing FWD sedan.

When you get behind the wheel and find the open road you will instantly understand why Nissan continues to make the Maxima for our market. This is a car that handles corners with the deftness of an expert and you’ll swear the car has been down every road before with the way it turns and twists wherever you need to go. When it’s time to calm it down and drive in traffic the Maxima is a comfortable and enjoyable place from which to have a great drive, giving you the feeling you want and the ride you’re looking for.
